SABIOMA is an international partnership between Argentina and the UK, working on nature-based solutions to tackle the challenge of biodiversity loss, climate change and social wellbeing. Our main objectives are to develop knowledge, build capacity and define tangible actions for conservation, restauration and sustainable use of land and the environment. Through our research activities, our consortium focus on providing knowledge to food producers, policy-makers, land managers and the public who need better evidence based tools to support decision making for sustainable outcomes.
Landscape Ecologist (The Nature Conservancy – Catholic University of Salta)
Mauricio is interested in understanding tradeoffs between biodiversity conservation food production systems, mainly cattle ranching, as well as creating strategies to restore functional native ecosystems.
Ecological Data Scientist (UKCEH)
Alba is interested in understanding biodiversity and how new technologies can assist environmental science. Her work focuses on applying and developing computer vision algorithms for insects monitoring and identification and compare the results with traditional surveys.
Ecological Remote Sensing Scientist (UKCEH)
Dan works on the production and the analysis of large scale satellite derived datasets to improve our capability to monitor and measure the impact of land use change on biodiversity.
Technical Project Manager (UKCEH)
Simon helps develop novel sensors and instruments for the science community at UKCEH.
Biodiversity Science Area Coordinator (UKCEH)
Katie works within the Biodiversity Science Area at UKCEH to provide programme coordination and management assistance for projects and logistics. Katie's background is in climate change and environmental sciences.
